CULTURE and Creative Art Forum (CCAF) will
hold its fourth yearly National Conference on Visual Arts in
honour of late Inyang Ema, the artist and designer who was the
former head of the graphics section of the Nigerian Television
Authority (NTA).
In collaboration with Department of Industrial Design, Federal
University of Technology, Akure (FUTA), Ondo State, the event is
billed for November 1 and 4, 2006 at the FUTA premises in Akure.
The theme is Art, Design and Technology in the 21st Century.
The conference is in line with the CCAF's mission "to generate
public debates and provide opportunities and fora for creative
minds to have critical and intellectual discourse on matters and
issues that bother on development of art, design, culture and
technology especially in Africa."
Expected as participants are artists, designers, academics,
technology experts, art historians and critics among others.
Apart from the keynote address on main theme, discussions and
debates will hold in eight sub themes. They are: Art and Designs
as Creative Enterprise; Innovations in Art and Design practices;
Creative Dimensions in Forms and Material Technology; Artists
and the Challenges of Industrial Technology; Art and Design and
the Nigerian Environment; Repositioning Art and Design in
Nigeria for Today's Technology; Cottage (Art) Industry and the
Nigerian Economy; and Visual Arts and the Challenges of
Information and Communication Technology.
A release signed by CCAF secretariat states: "Deadline for
submission of abstracts (of not more than 250 words) is October
13. Electronic copy should be sent to ccaf5000@yahoo.com. Only
accepted and listed abstracts would appear in the Book of
Abstracts and would be presented at the conference. Presenters
are expected to submit at registration point, 20 hard copies of
their manuscript and a 1.44 Floppy Disk in Microsoft Word or
PDF. It should be typed in double line spacing on A4 paper and
not more than 15 pages including tables, diagrams, graphs,
figures and pictures in (jpeg format). Referencing styles
recommended are APA, CMS and MLA."
